Clifton Fire offers car seat safety inspections and education to help parents and caregivers ensure their children are traveling as safely as possible. Inspections are available at the fire station by appointment or on a drop-in basis, depending on the availability of our trained personnel.

Our car seat inspections are designed to teach and educate parents and cregivers, not to simply install a car seat. During the inspection, our personnel will work with you to review your car seat, vehicle, proper installation, and safe use so that you feel confident installing and using the seat correctly on your own.

What to Expect

Please allow approximately 30-45 minutes per car seat. If you have more than two car seats that need to be inspected, we ask that you schedule an appointment in advance so we can ensure adequate time is available. 

Before arriving for your inspection, please:

• Bring your vehicle owner's manual.
• Bring the car seat manufacturer's manual for each seat being inspected.
• Install the car seat to the best of your ability before you arrive. This allows our personnel to see how you are currently using the seat and helps us identify areas where additional instruction may be helpful.
• Bring your child, when possible, so our personnel can help review the proper fit and positioning of the car seat or harness.

Spanish-Language Appointments

Spanish-speaking families are welcome and encouraged to use our car seate safety services. If you require a Spanish-speaking translator, please schedule an appointment in advance. This allows us to coordinate with a translator and ensure someone is available to assist during your inspection.
